You really should visit Ryedale (North Yorkshire) and the North York Moors National Park – relatively little known compared to such UK holiday destinations as Cornwall & Devon, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District but so much to offer.....
Easy access to numerous beaches, bustling seaside towns and unspoilt villages. In Yorkshire, more Stately Homes, Castles, Abbeys, Gardens, Museums, Theatres, and Racecourses (9 of them!) than you could possibly visit in a fortnight never mind a typical week's stay. Then there's the North York Moors National Park, the largest area of uninterrupted heather moorland in England offering tremendous diversity of landscape, an extensive network of public paths and bridalways, and true tranquility in its easily accessed (except in winter!) but more remote areas.
And finally - for those wishing to have little to do with cooking whilst on holiday at Mel House Cottages there are numerous good value eating places to visit, giving access to a range of menus to suit all tastes from traditional fish 'n' chips to cordon bleu. But please be warned - portions served around here tend to be extremely generous!
